Everyone gets down and sad sometimes. We look for a way of escape. Some people develop addictions through this process. They get fed up of their world. Do you ever feel empty?
What do you do when your Spirit is at the lowest?
If you have ever felt empty and lonely then please read on.
You get really frustrated at times, your soul feels empty and you feel lost.
It's not easy to keep striving and working hard. You have to take a break at some point. How you spend the break matters a lot. It determines whether your courage returns or you become a lost soul.
Some of the things you can do when your spirit is at the lowest includes
- Read a book; just a normal romance novel could lift your spirit up. It could bring a smile on your face. The fact that the main characters find love could give you hope. If you don't like a romance novel, a crime novel goes a long way too. The thrill you get from the book goes a long way. The fact that the criminal gets caught and locked away means the street is safer for everyone. You smile because of that. Yes a lot of us say it's fiction. The truth however is that even in a sea of lies there's bound to be an hint of truth right? Besides the authors go a long way in making sure they make their stories as believable as possible.
- Get a diary: A diary helps you record hurtful moments, happy moments and sad moments. It's a good self-therapy in my opinion. It's like talking to someone but the person is telling you. I got you. No judgements are passed and your secrets would be safe.
- Read an inspirational book: if you are so down and you are at your weakest the best source of motivation is from an inspirational book. You get uplifted especially if the book is a very nice one. Life hits us hard and we have to feel our souls with faith, hope, courage among others to prevent ourselves from feeling empty
- Take a nap; imagine you just got back home from work, exhausted....you are a single mother, your baby needs to eat. You are frustrated, taking a nap helps. Feed your baby, take a shower and take a nap. Clear your mind of different thoughts, take deep breaths. Count chickens/sheep till you fall asleep. You would get better when you wake up
- Take a walk/run.
- Talk to someone close to you; having someone you can talk freely helps you to clear your mind. Make sure you pick someone that would guard your secret with his or her heart
- Just feel down; though I won't encourage this but sometimes you just have to feel down. It makes you human. Don't feel down for too long though then you become depressed
- Seat back and watch a movie; make sure you get some popcorns
- Take up a new hobby
- Go swimming; if you can't swim please you can either learn or don't bother swimming
Things you shouldn't do when you feel down
- Smoke weed; this is a big no don't this only makes you addicted and doesn't help
- Take drugs; also a big no, you don't want to kill yourself do you?
- Having sex: though sex may be fun, having sex to not feel down isn't nice. You don't want to use a person
- Blaming the universe
- Feeling that everyone hates you.
- Feeling depressed
- Committing/contemplating suicide
- Cutting yourself
- Drowning in your pains
- Blaming yourself/feeling you are a mistake
Avoid doing things that I have listed.
